About Senate

The Student Government Senate is vested with all legislative power in accordance with the Student Government Constitution. The body of Senate is comprised of members who proportionately represent each of the University's schools and colleges, including undergraduates, graduates, and non-degree students. It is presided by the Student Government Vice President who is elected by the student body, and other officers, including the Senate President Pro Tempore, the Parliamentarian, and the several standing committee chairs.

The work of the Senate is largely accomplished by its numerous committees, which focus on specific areas of student concern. The primary committees are the seven standing committees. These committees are: Governance Committee, RAPP Committee, Finance Committee, Student Budget Committee, UNO Relief, Rec Committee, and Beautification Committee. Additional select committees are regularly organized to deal with matters requiring special attention.
